| Only Yesterday (1991): It's 1982, and Taeko is 27 years old, single and has lived all his life in Tokyo. She decides to visit his family in the field, and as the train travels through the night, memories flooded back of his younger years: the first immature movements of romance, the onset of puberty, and the frustrations of math and boys. Station is met by Toshio young farmer, and encounters with him reconnected to her longings forgotten. In lyrical switches between the present and the past, Taeko contemplates the arc of his life, and wonders if he has been true to the dreams of his own childhood. | ||
